What Is Fibre?
Fibre is a very thin wire made of glass or plastic. It conducts a light signal. This signal can carry large amounts of data at the speed of light. The signal can travel long distances without being disrupted.
Fibre is more reliable and more durable. Compared to copper-based technologies (DSL, ADSL) or coaxial cable, signal loss during transmission is greatly reduced.
Today, fibre is the fastest and most developed Internet technology. With fibre, a connection has the potential to reach several gigabits per second in upload and download.
What Is Fibre To The Home?
Simply put, it is a technology for connecting fibre optic cables to the home. The abbreviation “FTTH” is also used to designate this connection. “FTTH” stands for “Fiber to the Home”.
Shared Technologies : Cable and DSL
With ADSL or cable, the Internet provider sends the data from its central office, through an optical fibre, to a distribution point in your neighbourhood. Then, the data is routed to homes via traditional infrastructure. This infrastructure is made up of copper wires or coaxial cables. With cable and ADSL, the fibre connexion is shared.

3. Confirmation of the appointment
We will contact you a few days after receiving your order to confirm the time window and date of the technician’s visit.
Some preparations are necessary:
- The electrical room in your building (if there is one) must be accessible on the day of the installation. It may usually be locked. Ask the building manager for the key or request that the room be unlocked on the day of installation.
- The technician often has to drill holes to install the fibre cables in the walls. If you’re a tenant, the landlord’s authorization is required to carry out the work. You must provide the technician with a written authorization signed by the owner of the building.
- A person aged 18 years or older must be on site during the entire installation window and while the technician is installing the service.
- The technician may show up at the end of the installation window. For example, if your window is from noon to 5:00 p.m., the technician could arrive at 4:50 p.m.
- Installation may take a few hours. It is important to anticipate that the installation will not necessarily be completed before the end of the appointment window
